Engineering

Full-Stack Product & Field Engineer – AI Systems

Apply now

We're looking for a technically versatile engineer to help build, deploy, and support advanced AI systems in operational environments. This role sits at the intersection of product development, AI engineering, and field operations. You'll work closely with our engineering team to develop new capabilities, improve existing products, and validate performance through hands-on testing with customers and operators in the field.

The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between software development, AI workflows, data analysis, customer engagement, and field deployment. One day you may be implementing a new product feature, the next analyzing model performance on a large dataset, debugging a deployment at a customer site, or supporting an operational exercise.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain features across our software platform.
  • Build and support full-stack applications, APIs, data pipelines, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Work with AI systems including computer vision models, CNNs, VLMs, and agentic AI architectures.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot AI systems in operational and field environments.
  • Analyze large datasets and perform statistical analysis to evaluate model and system performance.
  • Work directly with customers, operators, and partner organizations to understand requirements and gather feedback.
  • Serve as a technical representative during demonstrations, evaluations, and operational exercises.
  • Translate customer and operator feedback into product improvements and new features.
  • Support testing, validation, and performance assessment of AI capabilities in real-world conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to shape the product roadmap.
  • Travel to customer locations, military installations, and test events as required.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, AI engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience developing and maintaining production software systems.
  • Experience working with machine learning, computer vision, AI agents, or related technologies.
  • Experience working with large datasets and statistical analysis.
  • Comfortable debugging software, infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers, operators, and partner companies.
  • Highly proactive and capable of operating independently in fast-moving environments.
  • Comfortable balancing product development responsibilities with field deployment and customer support.
  • AI-first mindset and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Rust development experience.
  • Experience with edge AI systems and embedded computing.
  • Familiarity with tactical networking, RF systems, MANETs, or military communications.
  • Experience with computer vision, VLMs, LLMs, and agentic AI systems.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, MLOps, and modern deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with 3D graphics, simulation, digital twins, Unity, or Unreal Engine.
  • Experience supporting defense, government, or public sector customers.

Why Lexset

What it's like here.

Small team. Hard problems. Real operators counting on the thing you build. We move fast, ship often, and care deeply about craft — in code, in product, and in how we show up in the field.
01

Field-tested, not lab-tested

Your work deploys to real environments — defense exercises, infrastructure inspections, edge hardware in the field. You'll see it run where it matters.

02

Small team, full ownership

No layers. You own features end-to-end — from architecture to deployment to the operator's feedback. Every person here shapes the product.

03

AI-first, not AI-adjacent

Perception, reasoning, synthetic data, agentic systems — AI isn't a feature we bolt on. It's the core of what we build and how we build it.

04

Mission that matters

Defense, infrastructure, public safety. The operators who use Sentinel are making consequential decisions. We build tools worthy of that trust.

Don't see your role?

We're always looking for exceptional people.

If you're excited about what we're building and think you'd be a fit, reach out. We're especially interested in hearing from engineers, researchers, and operators who've worked at the intersection of AI and the real world.
